The silk fibroin surgical mesh is the world's first hernia repair product made from silk material to undergo multicenter clinical validation. This product is a mesh fabricated through warp knitting and degumming processes using silkworm silk, with silk fibroin as its primary component. It is suitable for open extraperitoneal repair of inguinal hernias.
Upon implantation into weakened or defective abdominal wall soft tissue, the mesh provides initial mechanical support. As tissue regeneration progresses, the product gradually degrades and is expected to be ultimately replaced by the body's regenerated tissue to complete the repair.
